About Me: Atlanta Improviser with 15+ Years Experience

One thing to know about me: I come to life under the lights! A performer since childhood, it’s one of my life’s greatest joys. Read on to learn more about my improv experience - or visit the More Content tab to learn more about my performing journey as a whole!

✨ After performing in years of “Theater Sports” in high school, I began my professional improv career in Athens, GA in 2013, performing with the award-winning troupe Improv Athens, through the University of Georgia where we performed weekly for up to 200 audience members and had the opportunity to work with instructors like Mick Napier.

✨ When I moved to Atlanta in 2017, I helped facilitate the formation and launch of the group Six Kids Improv. All friends from our time in Improv Athens together, we helped to further define the city’s improv personality, by leading workshops and performing with a focus on short form + narrative-based long form improv.

✨ Since then, I’ve helped launch and produce several other groups with focuses on varying performance styles and formats. Please feel free to check these groups out at their respective Instagram handles below!

✨ My participation in these groups has also included performing in festivals across the U.S., including: the Del Close Marathon, as well as in Nashville, Chicago, Los Angeles, Florida, and Charleston.

✨ I’ve performed at every improv theater across Atlanta in some capacity, with these notable roles and positions:

  • PRESENT: Teacher of level 1 + level 4 improv classes at Dad’s Garage; Main cast member of Dad’s Garage’s group “Wowie Zowie” (improv for kids); Member of Dad’s Garage Corporate team

  • OUTSIDE THE THEATER: Developed + have led executive team building to bolster personal + professional skills

  • REGULARLY: Perform alongside the ensemble cast at Dad’s Garage by appearing in shows like TheatreSports, Improvised D&D + Murder She Improvised

  • PAST: Starred in Dad’s Garage annual performances of “Invasion Christmas Carol” in 2022 - 2023 + the Village Theater ensemble

❓You might be wondering… how does all of this translate into me creating and teaching my own classes?

🤩 After extensive work at different theaters and with a wide range of performers, I noticed a gap in Atlanta’s community in 2022, where I felt I could really make a difference. Thus, my improv program was born!

🥳 My priority as a performer, teacher, and person is focused on being extremely present, fiercely supportive, and wildly encouraging while fostering growth, pursuing joy, and treating everything as a gift. Quantity of performance experiences doesn’t always equal quality - and so I aim to deliver that quality, and help my students become their best selves on and off the stage.

We’re always growing. Let’s grow together.

Class FAQs

  • The Foundational Class is an 8 week course covering topics each week to help you pull off a successful scene. This is not an intro or level 1 class, I treat it with the same advanced lens as I do all my classes, but it is open to all levels and it is beginner friendly.

Whether you are new to the scene or need to brush up on some skills with intentionality, each week is filled with exercises to harness your strengths while improving and transforming weaknesses into strengths.

  • The Continuous Class digs deeper into what we established in the Foundational. Focusing on your goals, I build a curriculum to satisfy your needs as a performer. We explore more scene work and an array of formats that will advance your improv as a whole.

  • Classes are typically 6 weeks for 3 hours or 8 weeks for 2 hours. Classes are $250 per session.

If price is a problem, sometimes payment plans can be arranged, but not promised.

  • Yes! I offer private coaching for teams, corporate training for businesses, and am working on extending my program - from specific workshops to longer courses. If you are interested, be sure to fill out the form below to stay updated!

One of my greatest joys in the performance space is teaching. I’ve taught more than 200 students over the past 3 years. It’s been an honor to be a part of each of their journeys. But don’t just take my word for it! Here are testimonials from past students of my program:

"I was told Madeline was awesome, but she far exceeded my expectations as a teacher. I genuinely feel like Madeline is one of the most seasoned professionals I’ve had a chance to learn from. And she’s so encouraging, and creates such a safe space, that I felt like I could really try things I haven’t tried before. I’m very grateful for this experience."

- Alexis S

"I love how it was constantly engaging throughout - there were many times when I'd glance down at my watch after what felt like half an hour and realize it was already almost 9pm. Getting to stay up on our feet, practicing skills, and not just sitting and ‘learning,’ was what made this class so wonderful. And each class felt progressive - each week built on the past, expecting a little more out of us but also ensuring we had the tools for the next step. I loved it so much!"

- Gaya K

“Madeline’s class is top tier. From the moment you step in, all judgement is left at the door, truly creating an open space where you can play and experiment without fear. What sets her apart is her ability to tailor feedback to each individual; she gives you the freedom to be uninhibited while also offering nuanced guidance to help you elevate your scenes.”

- Blair G

“Madeline is an exceptional improv instructor who creates a safe and loving learning environment. She encourages her students to take risks, make bold choices, and continue to grow. She has a gift for making even shy and nervous students feel comfortable and confident. Every class is packed with energy, encouragement, and moments of true creativity. Madeline doesn’t just teach improv—she inspires growth and helps her students develop the confidence to be unapologetically silly. Madeline is one of the most genuine, authentic, supportive, and kind humans I’ve ever encountered. She is a gifted teacher who makes everyone around her feel seen, loved, appreciated, and special.”

- Jess K

“I feel like there was a lot of thought and passion and love of improv put into this class. At first I honestly wasn’t sure it was for me, but letting my guard down and trusting others definitely let me enjoy and have an awesome time. You won’t find anyone as passionate, playful and present as Madeline - the best improv class I’ve had the experience to take.”

- Chris C

“Madeline's class is unique in that it's designed to meet everyone in the class right where they're at in their improv journeys while challenging everyone equally. You'll be pushed harder and farther as an improv student than you ever have and have the time of your life in the process.”

- Austin C

"Madeline’s class gave me a safe place to fail, a new set of tools, and an opportunity to connect more with the improv community. The way Madeline teaches is positive, kind, and overwhelmingly supportive. I’ve never had a teacher who I’ve so looked forward to seeing every week and I would recommend this class to anyone of any experience level."

- Maria M

“She genuinely cares about each student's progress, always offering constructive feedback and encouragement. Madeline's passion for improv is infectious, making every class not only a learning experience but also a joyous and uplifting one. The sense of community she fosters is truly special, and her ability to bring out the best in everyone is remarkable.”

- Nick S

“This class is unique blend of freedom and structure. Madeline helps you shine as an individual, but also encourages you to learn from the subtle nuances of your classmates. She reviews the philosophy of improv in a way that’s helpful, while never confining you to rigid rules. It’s the perfect balance of play and guidance that makes every session feel empowering. Every week I leave the class feeling inspired and excited to keep growing. If you’re looking for an environment that fosters creativity and confidence, this is it!”

- Blair G

While my class does strengthen a wide array of performance skills, it also helps outside the theater. I work to build students’ confidence, fine-tune their quick thinking, and boost their public speaking capabilities.
